Together, in community.

At Riverdale Neighborhood House, we believe in the power of community. When we come together as neighbors, we can achieve so much. Every day, we work to create opportunities for people to gather and connect – through our Telephone Reassurance Program, at the Neighborhood Fridge, during Music in the Garden, by the pool and in the classroom. We are proud to be the place where countless connections are created, where meaningful relationships span generations and where moments of inspiration take place each day. We are proud to be your neighbor.

Our programs are not possible without the generous support of our neighbors. As we look to the upcoming new year, please help us continue to strengthen our community.

Your Support Makes a Difference:

  • $50: can sponsor a month of swimming lessons for a child or buy the seeds for a garden bed.

  • $100: can fill the shelves of the Neighborhood Fridge or cater an afternoon tea for older adults.

  • $250:  host an intergenerational cooking class or can support a scholarship .

  • $500: can fund a food distribution for 150 or support a teen intern’s stipend.

  • $1,000: can power the sound at a community concert.

Connecting Generations

Connecting Generations

“RNH gives me the feeling that I have a good neighbor to reach out to.”

On any given Wednesday, you will find a group of community members spanning five generations meeting to discuss the latest community needs. Our Intergenerational Advisory Council works to bridge generational divides, host events like Cooking Classes and Career Panels, and just hang out and have fun. We are proud to provide a space for connection across generations.

Gathering in Community

Gathering in Community

“It’s part of what makes Riverdale special and unique”

Some of our favorite summer memories are the Music in the Garden community concerts. We love gathering at the garden to listen to the sounds of the Bronx, from Salsa to Klezmer, and dance with neighbors old and new. We are committed to being this community venue for creativity and collaboration.

Growing Together

Growing Together

“The counselors care for you like they care for their own”

In the classroom, on the playground, or in the camp pool, our Children’s Programs spark curiosity for kids to grow and learn together. We are dedicated to being a safe space for kids to take leaps into new territories and build friendships that last a lifetime.

Breaking & Baking Bread

Breaking & Baking Bread

“The participants in my classes make new friends or reconnect with old friends they haven’t seen in a long time”

From pilates, to bread making, and pickleball, people often join our Community Classes to learn a new skill or have a good workout. They often leave with something so much more. We are thrilled to be a place for neighbors to bake and break bread together.
