SAT Prep Class

SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST(SAT)

Prep Class

Studying for the SAT can help students apply to college as well as ensure that students are college ready. The Digital SAT will be shorter than in the past and will be computer-adaptive. This course will use the book from the College Board which contains the 4 Practice Tests that are also on the web. It will be beneficial for students to have a College Board account to become acquainted with the Bluebook application for test day and a Khan Academy account for aligned practice.

Let us help your student prepare for this critical exam. Here’s what your student will gain from our classes:

English Section

  • Reading: Explore texts and key vocabulary words critical for success in the reading section and dissect readings for key details and to understand the overall meaning.

  • Writing and Language: We hone in on syntax with examples of how to appropriately edit a passage following the rules while maintaining correct grammar and punctuation.

  • Essay: Students will analyze the questions and directions posed. We also provide graphic organizers, sample texts and model essay examples.

Math Section

  • Prior to the first session, students will take a baseline SAT exam at home to give a benchmark. Once the

student grades this exam they will be able to identify areas needing strengthening. They will share this

information (areas needing strengthening) with the teachers prior to the first session.

  • Then we will work on the four main sections of the SATs: Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Mathematics, Problem Solving and Data Analysis, and additional Topics in Math.

  • Students will be given an opportunity to work through the problems independently. We will then review the problems and key test taking strategies to efficiently solve them.

This class will take place on Zoom.
